Time Matrix

30 feet

A 30-foot monumental installation that encodes the geometry of time. The signature work of Living Duality — built for Burning Man, experienced across dimensions.

About the Work

The Time Matrix began as a question: what if time is not a direction but a structure?

This 30-foot installation — built for Burning Man's open playa — encodes the answer in steel and form. It is the geometry of the fourth dimension made visible, touchable, walkable. Visitors who moved through it reported something beyond aesthetic experience: a felt sense of temporal displacement, of standing at the intersection of past and future as spatial coordinates rather than sequential moments.

The piece draws from Brant Hindman's published research on the flexagon — a bridge between polarized and dualistic dimension-reversing geometries — and extends those mathematical relationships into architectural scale. Each vertex is a node in a unified field equation. Each edge is a vector through four-dimensional space.

The Time Matrix is equipped with embedded AR and VR experiences: scan any face of the structure with the Living Duality app and the digital dimension of the piece unfolds — rotating hypercubes, animated field lines, the Unity Pixel propagating through space at the speed of coherence.

This is not a sculpture about time. It is time, held still long enough to be seen.
