I Bow to the Morning Winds

Awake and Alive I bow to the morning winds, for today they are my teacher.

Cool currents run across my neck and dance a wave of shiver that awakens me to the present.

The mornings are different today.  The trees bare their naked roots and blanket the earth to keep her warm for the winter.

The air is crisp and poised as it penetrates my layers.  Not by force, but by advancing through yielding to my very form.  Like quicksand, it enters every space I do not fill.

A gust of wind stokes the fire and brings alive embers of slumber from warmth before.

Together with sacrificed limbs of an approaching winter, the flame comes alive in a dance with the advancing wind.

Where it advances, the fire yields.  And in its retreat, the fire advances. A delicate dance that imbues life into the elements of change.
